Men and women come to 5150 HEAT Firearms Training Academy for the same reason – SELF-DEFENSE! But, for the past year we haven’t been filling our classroom with a gender-mixture of male and female students. Our lady students no longer feel singled out, intimidated and uncomfortable. Our Instructors and our training allows the creation of an environment that’s comfortable, flexible, malleable and changeable in order to overcome decades of behavioral differences and society's expectations, i.e. we coach the soft wiring!
This course is designed for women because we’ve been inaccurately taught that they think and learn differently from men. That combined with the fact that women have unique needs and expectations as they relate to firearms & firearms training, i.e. use of force; loud noises; recoil; concealed mechanisms; jargon; etc. We’ve eliminated the awkward testosterone driven setting of coed training and in its place we’ve allowed women to learn with others who have the same behavioral/societal expectations and soft wiring, just like you. You’re invited to join our cutting-edge firearms instruction presented in a safe and comfortable classroom setting.
Course Overview
Women’s Handgun and Self-Defense Fundamentals is a welcoming and engaging firearms training curriculum with multiple layers of instruction. We have developed four distinct levels of training that can be modified or used in combination:
1. Women’s Basic Pistol
2. Women’s Intermediate Pistol
3. Women’s Defensive Pistol
4. State of the Art LASER Training System*
The course is designed to reach interested women students who are either brand new to firearms (yes, even ladies that have never picked up a gun before) and all the way through to women who are familiar with firearms and ready to learn more about marksmanship vs. defensive shooting and take the next steps with their firearms skills, tools, and mindset.
The fundamentals of shooting will be introduced, reviewed, reinforced and built upon, while also exploring universal safety rules, situational awareness, common types of handguns, ammunition types, marksmanship skills, advanced firearms handling, defensive pistol fundamentals, cover vs. concealment, dry-firing, laser pistol training, (included in this course); AVOID, ESCAPE, DEFEND and the use of deadly force. Specifically, Women’s Handgun and Self-Defense Fundamentals is all about sharing the basics—along with the fun, the seriousness, and the importance of being a responsibly armed female. After all, you are worth protecting.
Because there is no one size fits all approach to effective training 5150 HEAT Firearms Training Academy has developed this course into an exceptional 4 to 5* hour block of instruction that covers hands on training using our state of the art LASER PISTOL training system to highlight and reinforce your learning. Students will be introduced to handgun nomenclature, acronyms and handling revolvers and semi-automatic pistols in addition to demonstrations by highly trained and experienced professional law enforcement instructors.
Our course of instruction is unique in that it stands alone and can take a novice with NO firearms education or knowledge and turn her into a confident and safe firearms handler, enthusiast and “markswoman!”
It all starts with MINDSET and ends with EDUCATION, PHYSICAL TRAINING and CONTINUED LEARNING EFFORT. Everyone will achieve confidence and proficiency from the uniquely professional high quality training provided by 5150 HEAT Firearms Training Academy!
The laser range is a state of the art dry-fire training tool that would be beneficial for anyone looking to safely train at home.
The LASER RANGE unit is really comprised of only 3 to 4 elements. There's the SIRT pistol (although any “laser ammo” style of gun will do the job), the LASR software app, a laptop, a webcam, and target(s). You can make your own targets using a variety of items from around your home. (Picture frames work well too.)
This unit is completely scalable in terms of price. If you’re serious about dry-fire training, you could create your own home laser range for under $1,000. If you think about it, that’s only 5-10 visits to a live range (when you factor in ammunition, lane rental, etc).
The Laser Range is a great long-term investment you can use over and over again... And, it will absolutely BLOW YOUR MING!
5150 HEAT Firearms Traning Academy, NextLevel Training and Shooter Technology Group have changed the world of firearms training!
GOING TO THE RANGE IS EXPENSIVE & INCONVENIENT
How It Works
LASR runs on your computer, tablet, or smartphone, or tablet and uses the camera to watch any targets for laser impacts from laser-bullet inserts or training pistols.
When LASR detects impacts, it instantly reports the hit with an audible tone, the exact location, how fast you were, and can provide diagnostic feedback.
Watch:
LASR: For Shooters, By Shooters
More Value
LASR has been getting updates, improvements, and new features since 2012. It far exceeds the capabilities of any other dry-fire tool available within its price range.
You can use LASR with ANY targets including multiple targets, and it works with ANY laser device, including inserts for your real firearms and dedicated training pistols.
Watch:
More Fun
Dry-fire practice doesn't have to be a chore. LASR X includes Challenges for a variety of different drills where you work to attain new ranks, beat your own highscores, unlock new challenges, and much more in a fun, game-like environment.

BUENA PARK,
April 12, 1958 - September 21, 2003
On September 21, 2003 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Corporal Tyler Matthew Pinchot of the Buena Park Police Department passed away as a result of traumatic injuries suffered during an on-duty traffic collision.
The traffic collision occurred on June 13, 2003 at approximately 3:30 p.m. On that date, Corporal Pinchot was working a traffic enforcement detail on a police motorcycle in the 6800 block of Orangethorpe Avenue, Buena Park.
Corporal Pinchot was traveling eastbound on Orangethorpe as he attempted to catch up to a traffic violator. As he was doing so, a Nissan Maxima sedan, which was traveling faster than Corporal Pinchot’s motorcycle, accidentally struck the motorcycle from behind throwing Corporal Pinchot from the motorcycle. Corporal Pinchot sustained major head injuries as well as substantial other injuries.
Corporal Pinchot was airlifted to UCI Medical Center in Orange, and he remained at that hospital until his death.
The California Highway Patrol investigated the accident. No citations were issued and no arrests were made.
Tyler is survived by his wife, both parents, two brothers, three sisters, three step children, and eleven nieces and nephews.

Terry Fincher was a friend and fellow law enforcement brother of mine. He began his career with the Brea Police Department on July 5, 1979, as a reserve officer. He began as a full-time officer on February 8, 1980. Terry worked many assignments, including motors. He served as an investigator, handling several different case loads, including robbery / homicide, burglary, and narcotics. Terry was a peer counselor, a member of the Tactical Arrest and Containment team (TAC), and a member of the Hostage Negotiations Team.
Terry was held in high regard by his fellow officers, receiving the Associate Officer of the Year in 1980 and Officer of the Year in 1981. Terry was awarded the Brea Police Department's Medal of Honor in 1987, for his actions during an encounter with a gunman.
On May 22, 1996, while investigating a crime, Terry was struck by a train and killed. Terry is survived by his wife, four children, and two grandchildren.
His name is Christopher Amoroso and at this point on that awful day the smoke and flames are so intense that people are coming down from those buildings in waves. They're coming down from both towers. They're coming down from all four sides. Strangers were holding hands on their way down, comforting one another. It take s along time to die from 90 floors up. Every second is filled with despair. The sky behind is filled with falling bodies. The air above them is filled with smoke and flames and the awful sound of those bodies hitting the sidewalk are echoing in his ears.
He’s going back. He’s going to drop off the pregnant lady. He’s going to go back into that building a fourth time. The building will fall and Christopher Amoroso will not come home to his wife and baby tonight.
He will never come home again. Do you understand that nobody told him to go?
Why does one man go up those steps again and again and again and again while thousands are coming down?
Because he’s a sheepdog.
God Bless and Keep, Port Authority Police Officer, Christopher Amoroso
