The major problems with relying on live fire range training alone are: Cost: Ammo is expensive and sometimes hard to find. Add to that the range fees, targets, gear, cleaning your weapons; your transportation to and from the range, plus the long wait times at a crowded live fire range just isn't something most of us can do every week. Full Range of Motion: Pulling the trigger is one thing but professionals know you also need to train drawing the firearm from your concealed holster, readying the firearm, getting into a stance & grip, reloading, malfunctions and re-holstering the gun. Not only do most ranges have rules against this but it can also be very dangerous to train these skills with a fully loaded firearm. Stationary: Real life never holds still, except at the range and you’re probably only allowed to stand still and fire at a single stationary target. This doesn't prepare you for a world where targets move and you need to move too. Single Target: Both indoor & outdoor ranges have rules against setting up multiple targets but in real life you shouldn't bet your life on engaging a single assailant. Rapid Fire: Not allowed, don’t even thing about it!

Choose a Course Of Fire from five available in the app: Steel Training, Saturday Steel, React, Practical Shooting, and Friend Or Foe. Range Officer commands can be enabled to direct the start of the Course Of Fire: “Are you ready?” “Standby!” followed by a 300ms start signal “Beeeep!”. Press the Start button on the Shot Timer screen and begin shooting at the start signal. Even a par time stop signal can be configured for time limited shot strings.
A Shot Timer view captures and displays target hits, cumulative times, split times, and overall scoring for each Course Of Fire. A Targets view shows target hit locations and features a sight picture visualization tool and shot correction chart overlays for analyzing shot groups.

Review: Shooter Make Ready Dry-Fire Training Tool
I recently had the opportunity to demo a product from one of our newest vendor partners, Accelerated Firearm Training. They have a unique dry fire training tool that is for any shooter skillset level. What makes this tool unique is the targets that simulate real steel plates, poppers, and silhouettes. Along with the neat visuals on the targets, you experience the gratifying sound of the “clang” as you connect to the targets successfully, along with real-life shot timer sound effects. When I performed the demo on it, I had so much fun. I couldn’t put it down and my husband and I ended up spending the entire evening playing with it in the comfort of our living room!
To get started, you’ll need a laser training pistol, a plug-in module for the training pistol, the special targets, and the Shooter Make Ready app on your phone. I used a SIRT 110, but refer to their website for other applicable options.
