The Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) is a card that is required to purchase a handgun or long gun (rifle/shotgun) in California with some exceptions which are listed below. This is a self-study exam which must be proctored by a DOJ Certified Instructor. The exam is 30 questions and a score of 70% must be obtained.

The taser certification course is approved and certified course per Penal Code §12650 through §12654
The taser certification course will enable you to carry and deploy the taser weapon delivery system safely and effectively. You will be able to learn policies, tactics and regulations. You will be able to explain how the taser-conducted energy weapon overrides the central nervous system.

B. Laws and regulations for issuing a firearms qualification card, 2 hours B. Laws and regulations for issuing a firearms qualification card, 2 hours
Objective: to familiarize and instruct the individual on the laws, regulations, other requirements, and the administrative process for issuing a firearms qualification card and annual renewal
With the passage of SB 1626 in 1998, state law will soon require security guards in K-12 school districts or California community college districts to complete a course of training developed by BSIS. The new law takes effect July 1, 2000, and affects guards working on school property for more than 20 hours per week. The new training requirement affects only guards employed under a contract between a K-12 school district or California community college district and a private patrol operator.
