Doc Thompson shared some “Fast Facts” about our Second Amendment rights along with clips of liberals trying to advocate for gun control.
“Common sense gun control” is the liberal mantra, but Doc explained why an infringement on gun ownership is an infringement on the Constitution. The Founding Fathers wrote the Bill of Rights, protecting our fundamental rights as Americans hundreds of years later when progressives started trying to take them away, Doc asserted.
One argument liberals like to use is the idea that the Second Amendment only applied to muskets. Doc was able to demonstrate the fallacy in that assertion by listing several high-capacity weapons that were available at the time. Another popular talking point is that the Second Amendment applies only to the military being well armed and not the people.
Doc used an expert’s opinion to explain the introductory clause in the Second Amendment. As the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia explained, the Second Amendment is divided into two clauses; the first gives a purpose, but it does not limit the second clause saying the people’s right to keep and bear arms should not be infringed.
“It is not about militias or the military or the U.S. government,” Doc said. “The right to bear arms applies to you.”
